The Mountain Beach Story
Mountain Beach Academy was built from the ground up — literally.
Founded by Megan Bisbee and David Chapman, Mountain Beach began as a vision to create something different for athletes in the Pacific Northwest: a high-level sand volleyball training environment rooted in hard work, character, and opportunity.
In 2022, that vision turned into action. Situated on 20 acres in North Spokane, Megan and David began clearing land and laying the foundation for what Mountain Beach is today. With more than 1,000 hours of hands-on labor, they developed the courts and training space themselves — investing their own time, resources, and dedication into transforming raw land into a competitive sand volleyball facility.
Over the past three years, the facility has been built slowly and intentionally — brick by brick — with a long-term vision of creating a place where athletes can train at a high level while feeling supported by a strong community.
As the program began to grow, two additional coaches joined the Mountain Beach vision.
Coach Meng Bak, Head Beach Volleyball Coach at Northwest University, brought elite-level sand experience and a high-level technical approach to athlete development. His background in collegiate beach volleyball and years of coaching experience have helped shape the training philosophy at Mountain Beach — emphasizing ball control, high volleyball IQ, defensive reading, and disciplined competition.
Coach Jack joined the program bringing strong club coaching experience and an infectious energy that resonates with athletes. Known for his enthusiastic coaching style and ability to connect with players, Jack helps create an environment where athletes feel challenged, supported, and motivated to grow.
Together, Megan, David, Meng, and Jack form the coaching foundation of Mountain Beach Academy — combining decades of playing, coaching, and athlete development experience.
Mountain Beach Academy was never meant to be just another club. It was created to be a place where athletes feel known, challenged, and supported — where families feel welcome and hard work is valued.
We believe in developing the whole athlete: confidence, resilience, accountability, and a true love for the game.
What started as a shared dream has grown into a community. At Mountain Beach, athletes train hard, compete fiercely, and celebrate together.
This is more than a facility — it’s a family built around sand, sport, and shared commitment.
